Workplace horror stories told by disgruntled employees

Instant Regret

I worked in the kitchen of a local restaurant. Staff usually make shortcuts to complete more work. I was flipping fryers with this guy at the end the night. The guy was texting while letting the oil drain into a Dutch oven. At some point, his phone fell into the dutch pot. Then, things started to go downhill.

He screamed and then pulled out his arm. When I ran over to see what was happening, I nearly fainted. The skin on his body began to peel from the intense third-degree burning. We rushed him to the hospital, and the rest is history (and I mean months and months of agonizing discomfort and skin grafts).
