Working to Get Paid
I was a server in a restaurant. We had just catered for a large reception. The owner’s spouse was talking with the wedding party and getting drinks periodically all night. She said that she would take her tip at the end of night because she had helped so much. I said fine, even though it’s against our state law.
After the party ended, the restaurant was still in a mess. The owner’s spouse is standing around and talking to herself while we are supposed to be cleaning up. It was nearly midnight, and I had already worked at my other job that day. I could have really used her help. I left without saying anything. I got all my tips from my last check.
