Communication Is Key

I worked for a family-owned business that was very dysfunctional. I was put on probation by my family member in charge of IT. He convinced everyone that he could do no wrong and blamed his subordinates whenever anything bad happened.

When I finally got my dream job a few weeks later, I mentioned in the exit interview that I had been on probation for over 3 months and was sick of it. I was actually removed from probation, but they never informed me. The fact that they didn’t tell me, “Hey, we’re not going to fire you,” is what makes me so confused.
