Do Better
For three days, my Dad was in hospice. He was up and down. We were told several times he was near death. On the third day, his breathing became shallower and his systems shut down. I received a call from my employer telling me to come down as they prepared end-of life care. I told my HR person about the situation.
Her answer was the worst thing I have ever heard: Did he die and come back to live again? Because, I am pretty sure that you’ve made this excuse before. I told her that she was going to be in a bind without a paddle.
