Workplace horror stories told by disgruntled employees

You Can’t make me

I worked as a project assistant for a company about a year-and-a-half. I had three different bosses in that year-and-a-half. The latest boss was a micromanager who paid me about 20% less than the salary standard for the job. I was also overworked and not compensated in any way.

She kept nitpicking at the end every day. I told her that I had time to finish it before the day ended, but she just kept pushing. She was screaming, and I cut her off by saying, “I quit”. She shouted back “WELL, I WILL NEED IT in WRITING!”

“I’ve already quit”, I replied with a straight face. I left quietly, packed up all my things, wished my coworkers good luck, and said goodbye. One year later, I took a position as Project Manager with a rival company. I made almost twice as much money as I did at my previous job.
