Workplace horror stories told by disgruntled employees

This is How It Works

I accepted the job after the interview went well. When I went to the front desk for paperwork, I noticed that my contract was different and that for the first week of the job, I would be an “intern”. When I first asked about the difference in amount, I was told “Oh, this contract is standard”.

Then they said, “It’s just not been updated to reflect your offer”. They needed to edit the changes and initial them before I signed. “Oh…that is not how we do things here”. They thanked me for their time, but I left without signing. On the day that I was supposed start asking about my location, they called me.

Because I never signed the contract, they told me I was not an employee. I would be happy to sign a revised contract if they provided it.
