In Israel, two teenagers were digging for gold at a dig site in Yavne. Two 18-year-olds found 425 gold pieces in a clay container buried under the ground. The coins had a 1,100-year age when they were dated.
The estimated value of the coins is based on gold per gram. Their actual value, however, is probably much higher, given their historical importance and age. The coins were all made of 24-karat pure gold. This cache is one of Israel’s oldest from the late 9th century. Unfortunately, these two teenagers will not be able to keep the gold they found.
