Oceans are full of strange creatures. Even after hundreds of years of research, we land dwellers only know a small fraction. Humans discover new species (and some of them are monstrous!) every few years.
Scientists in 2022 discovered a strange insectile creature so bizarre-looking that it was named “Darth Vader” after the Star Warssupervillain. The body parts, jaws and compound eyes are similar to Vader’s mask. The scientific name of this isopod, which is light yellow, is Bathynomus Yucatanensis but we like Darth Vader because it seems to be more appropriate for the creepy crawler.

Keith Haring, a visual artist who used animated images in his work, has become recognizable throughout the centuries. Haring’s Pop Art was born out of NYC graffiti in the 1980s, and quickly spread around the world.
Haring gave Amsterdam a mural measuring 40 feet tall in 1986. Haring painted the mural while in Amsterdam for an exhibition at Stedelijk Museum. For whatever reason, the giant mural had been hidden behind metal sheets for 30 years. It was finally unveiled to Amsterdam in 2018, much to art lovers’ delight. According to its design, the mural is a classic Haring.
