When it comes to the creatures that lurk in their depths, lakes can be as frightening as oceans. Divers discovered the remains in Lake Labynkyr, Siberia in Russia of an unknown “Sea Devil”. Locals had first reported a sea devil living in the lake during the 1800s, and in 2013 these claims were confirmed.

Massive jaws and skeletons were discovered at the bottom, many feet beneath the freezing surface. The “Sea Devil” was photographed by divers, but the scan did not show much detail. It wasn’t known if the sea devil is a large fish, reptile or amphibian.
