Unforgettable Airline Travel Horror Stories

The Baggage Handler Theft

Here’s the baggage handler. Years ago, as I sorted through luggage, I came across a bag that was a bit odd. The bag was very loosely tied and looked like it didn’t belong in a normal suitcase. The tag said it was heading to Colombia, which I deal with. I grabbed it and threw it into the bag cart.

The bag’s contents spilled out when the rope that held it together broke apart as the bag hit the cart. There were a lot of illegal substances. This was 2000 so I can’t recall any high-security. I gathered up all the items and put them back into the bag. While I was putting them in, I found a stash containing 100-dollar bills.

Wrapped in bands, not just one or two. There’s a lot of cash. As a teenager, I pocketed the money and filled my bag with almost $25K. The next morning, I purchased a used vehicle, paid off my school debt, and invested into an IRA to save for retirement. Thank you, stupid people!
