Unwanted Shuttle
In late December 1990, a flight was made from Philadelphia to Denver. The pilot informs us that the Denver airport has been closed due to a blizzard. We need to divert and divert to Gunnison in Colorado. Gunnison Airport is small and not designed for large commercial aircraft. As we near, I can see mountains on both sides of the road.
The captain tells us that we need to prepare for an urgent landing. The captain comes on and tells us to prepare for an emergency landing. At the time I was 14 and travelling with my aunt, her two cousins and their friends. While my aunt and my other cousin are praying, my cousin Billy and myself were joking.
Landing is a challenge and we need to stop the plane at every single foot of runway. We are alone and still hours away from Denver, so the pilot has to exit the plane to make a call. After an hour or so, they send out shuttle buses. We then begin our SIX-HOURS ride to Denver. It was a long, tiring day.
