Unforgettable Airline Travel Horror Stories

Man of Few Words

On a flight between Wausau and Chicago, Wisconsin, I was in a small regional plane. As we approached Chicago, I was talking with my coworker sitting across the aisle. Then I suddenly found myself looking down on him. Then I looked up at him. After a few minutes, we settled into our normal cruise pattern. But it was an eerie “What just happened?” moment. moment.

It felt like we were about to roll over. I’m not sure if it was the case, but it certainly seemed that way. A fellow passenger told me that when we arrived at O’Hare, I was caught in the tail of a bigger jet. It sounded plausible, but not very reassuring. The best moment was when the pilot brought back the plane under control.

The cabin was strangely silent. The captain opened his mic, cleared his throat and said “Sorry”. I think he was a man who spoke few words.
