Unforgettable Airline Travel Horror Stories

The Perfect Comeback

Air marshals are always on board when we fly into and out of DC. Once, they let them board early. The woman demanded to know the identities of the men who boarded the plane before her. Her husband said they paid extra for the privilege of being the first passengers to board.

This is absurd, because we let wheelchair users and other passengers down first. This kind of nonsense was the perfect opportunity for me to respond. After explaining calmly that the captain had invited them down because they were veterans from the wounded warriors project, she stopped talking. This silenced her for the remainder of the flight. I cannot imagine what kind of mindset would allow someone to believe they are entitled to a seat on an aircraft before anyone else.
