Unforgettable Airline Travel Horror Stories

Last to Land

At the airport, I’ve got TSA pre-check so I can go through the faster line and leave electronics in my luggage, etc. I was returning from Detroit to Toronto on a business trip. TSA flags the bag for a second X-ray. And again. And again. After the third time, a man comes and picks up my bag. He asks if he can hurt himself with anything sharp (no), before he takes out my laptop charger, Kindle charger and phone charger.

The bag is sent through after he puts the chargers on it. Again, the bag is flagged. He told her to leave because she could not even recognize a phone charger in the machine. However, that experience was nothing in comparison to the flight itself.

When a plane reaches a runway’s start, it will usually line up, stop and ask for clearance before taking off. We didn’t stop. The throttle was opened before we completed the turn. I knew that it would be a serious situation. We were screaming in the air. We climbed steeper and faster than I’ve ever done before, while maintaining high throttle. I connected to the Internet so that I could tell my friends we were hauling butt.

We land 40 mins early and almost skid onto the jet bridge. The last flight to land was ours.
