Prepare for the Worst
I was a skydiving teacher, and we were flying up at 8,000 feet in an old twin-prop twin-otter plane. The engines both started screaming at the same time, and then stopped a few moments later. The plane started gliding, then began to nosedive slowly. I didn’t worry because I was standing right next to the door and had my parachute attached, so I was prepared to bail.
When I saw that the face of my pilot was as white as ghosts in the cockpit mirror, I knew it was serious. After 10-15 seconds, as the plane was slowly descending and people were screaming, we fired up the engines and continued to climb. We then jumped. Wear a parachute.
