A mini universe

Researchers were able to gain a unique insight into 17th century Lund society through the meticulous examination of Peder’s remains. Per Karsten, director of the Lund University Historical Museum reflected on the importance of the discovery.

This founding father still lives and contributes to the modern society in a way through his coffin or body, highlighting the cultural and historic wealth Peder’s remains contained.

A New Grave

Per expressed his admiration for the historical figure by saying, “With deepest regard, he’s a unique medical archives that we can go back to over and over to ask new questions.”

Peder, he believed, held the answers to many questions even after his death. After their thorough research, archaeologists made sure that Peder’s remains would be laid to rest in dignity with a newly-crafted metal coffin.
