Rich people who are out of touch

My mother works for a family business, whose owners are very upper-class. The most wrong thing I’ve ever seen is how they treat their own family members, never mind strangers. The founder of this company, for example, fell and broke his hip at the age of 80.

He retired because he couldn’t even walk on his own, let alone manage a business. His daughter took over the company. It was a big mistake. She placed him in a nursing home and never saw him again. (He died at the age of 92 to give you some perspective.) And almost immediately, she began to ruin the company.

Three years after her daughter took over the company, the granddaughter is hired to do the exact same job as my mother. It’s a little bit of a story, but his aunt, who is also employed by the company, has the same job as his grandmother before she became owner.

Things are fine for a little while. Then he comes out and his grandmother fires him for a BS reason. She also demanded that his daughter throw him out of the house, or else she would fire her as well. Thankfully, she refused and threatened to sue her mother for firing her. She backs down and the child is thankfully not thrown out into the street, but he will never get his job back. My mother has to deal with all the work that he did since he’s been fired.
