A League Of Their Own
I worked in IT for a small private company that was essentially the owner, his older brother and myself. He called to say that his PC would not turn on. He was willing to pay me to drive five hours one-way to fix it that day. After a 5-hour drive, I arrive at this massive mansion.
I thought I was at the wrong place. The intercom at the entrance helped me to confirm that I was in the right place. I met the guy and his lovely wife. The dude was building his own gaming system, which looked absolutely amazing. I’d never seen hardware so expensive. It turned out that the man had never even switched on the power switch of his PSU.
I was still paid the base rate for $1400 to go out and flip the switch. It was technically free to install his drivers. The most amazing part of it all is He gave me $5,000 as a gratuity, all because he wanted to play League of Legends with his new PC.
