Rich people who are out of touch

Christmas Miracle

While I lived in Seoul, I was invited to Christmas Dinner by a very wealthy Korean family. The family was very nice, but in retrospect, I believe they were trying to show off their foreign friends. The wife had the house professionally decorated and everything catered. We felt like we were at a department shop.

The staff was handing out appetizers in plates and there were several Christmas trees. She looked as if she studied American Christmas movies and copied the entire thing. Dinner was served on a ridiculously long table, with two enormous turkeys perfectly roasted in the oven and all the trimmings. Later, I learned that Koreans do not like turkey.

These were only for decoration. They would be thrown away later. We ate Korean cuisine. I was told by the family that I could bring a turkey with me and that the caterer will deliver it along with whatever else I want.
