Rich people who are out of touch

Keep your hands to yourself

My colleague used to work as a bouncer in a club where rich kids would hang out. He observed a lot the “look at me, I’m rich!” behavior. It was not unusual to see people buying the most expensive Champagne in the club, telling the bartenders to pour it into the drain or wearing multiple Rolex watches to give them away to strangers.

What he found most striking was how disconnected these kids seemed from reality. A disturbing incident in particular stood out for him. On one night, he was on door duty and refused to let a child under the influence of alcohol into the club. What did the child do? He thought it would be a good thing to swing at him. It turned out to be a bad idea.

This was quickly discovered by the kid, who was handcuffed and lying on his back with his hands behind him. The kid was still not worried. He kept repeating, “It is all right. Just call my father and he will sort this out.” He didn’t seem to realize that he had been arrested for attempted assault.

He didn’t seem to understand that he had a problem until the police arrived and put him into the back seat of their car. His dad wasn’t going to show up and wave a magic wand and make everything go away.
