A Drop in the Bathtub

I fix bathtubs and showers. I’ve lived in middle-class, wealthy, and poor homes. We were in a mansion with a pool and tennis court. The foyer and the first room had black granite tiles measuring 16×16 with underfloor heating. This magnificent house had a three-car garage. But in the garage there were three lifts for literally stacking their vehicles. These guys were loaded.

They are “updating the house” to sell it so that they can return to North Jersey. The soaking unit was replaced in the master. The granite in the bathroom was stunning. The granite was blue and, under certain lights, looked like it had built-in lights. The deck had a crack at the caulk. We’re going to fix it as meticulously as we can because this is probably the most expensive home ever.

She comes to talk with us, and says that the wife bought the same type of soaker they had before because that was the only thing which fit the place. She eventually says, “It was okay, though, because it was only $8,000. I would have choked if I had been drinking anything. She said that the tub was just a cheap piece of junk. $8,000 is a small amount.
