A Long Drive
Martin had planned his route. He would have to drive 5 hours, then stop at a pet-friendly motel he had called in advance.
The passenger was his long-time companion.
It was bittersweet. Torrent was his sole motivation for doing this. He hoped to find out what the problem was.
