The Namibian desert is likely the last place you would think to look for a ship. The remains of the Bom Jesus were found in the Namibian Desert. The Portuguese ship sank five hundred years ago off the coast Namibia. The Bom Jesus reemerged as the waters of the coast receded.
It was on its journey to India when it sank, laden with gold and copper ingots. The Namibian government sent out a team of dignitaries to recover the wreckage after diamond miners found the ship. The Bom Jesus was found to have two- thousand pure gold coins, and tens thousands of pounds in copper ingots.
