2. The ‘Witch Bottle” is Found in an English Chimney
Location: Watford in England
Year Discovered : 2019.
Est. Value: $40*
The chimney section of a building in Watford in England was discovered by contractors who were demolishing an old pub. The creepy folklore discovery was a witch’s bottle filled with teeth and glass shards, an unknown liquid, and other items. It was believed that the bottle dated back to 1800s.
This was probably placed in the pub as a way to keep witches away. This makes sense, considering that the Witch of Saratoga was born on this Watford estate. Angeline Tubbs, the Witch’s actual name, moved to Saratoga in New York, USA, in 1761. She made her living by reading fortunes and creating witch bottles to scare away the competition.
